Vernal Equinox 2010

Vernal Equinox 2010

vernal_equinoxVernal Equinox 2010 will arrived on Saturday at 1732 GMT. It happens twice a year when the night and day are approximately equally long.

The day also on which the north and south poles of the earth are equal distances from the sun (92.6 million miles).

The sun will stand directly over the Earth’s equator. It is also known as the first day of spring. Vernal meaning green and equinox meaning equal night — on the equinox the hours of daylight are nearly equal to the hours of night.

• If you are from Portland on Saturday, the noon sun (1:18 p.m.) will reach its mid-point in the sky near 45 degrees from the southern horizon.

• On the first day of spring, the sun rises exactly due east and sets exactly due west. Each successive day thereafter it rises and sets just a little bit farther to the north until the summer solstice on June 20, the first day of summer, when the sun reaches its northernmost point along the horizon and actually seems to “stand still” and rise and set in the same place for a few days. In fact, the word “solstice” means “sun stands still.”

• From March 21 until Sept. 24, the days are longer than the nights for the northern hemisphere.

While Saturday will certainly feel like spring, with highs near 70, Sunday will be a much different story, as late winter returns for one last gasp. As typical with early spring though, as the sun moves to a position farther north of the Equator, it’s rays tend to warm things up pretty quickly after a cold snap, and that is expected to occur early next week.

The weather has been totally different compare to previous years, but vernal equinox should remain the same, or is it? Is the earth tilted more? Is vernal equinox really equal this year?

ended Associates Program in Colorado

amazn_assoAmazon.com suddenly ended its Associates Program in Colorado. Amazon Shopping Amazons Affiliate Program In Colorado Dead In The Water Due To Heightened Taxes.

The Colorado chapter of the advocacy group Progress Now, declared, “We won’t be bullied.” “After profiting from millions of dollars in tax-free sales to Colorado residents for years, Amazon.com is determined to protect their unfair advantage over local brick-and-mortar retailers.”

200,000 members group is going to boycott Amazon.com, asserting that Amazon’s action was just a stunt to deny Colorado of much needed revenue and protect Amazon.com from competition.

The effect of a decision made by the state of Colorado, wherein it has raised the internet sales tax has already begun to bring some very damaging results for both, the online companies as well as the users. One of the biggest online retail chains, Amazon Inc. has now withdrawn its affiliate program from Colorado, due to the increase in sales taxes and sent a notice to its users in Colorado, informing them of the situation and advising them to get in touch with the state’s lawmakers, if they wish to get the program back online.

As per the law passed by the state of Colorado, the out of state retailers such as Amazon will now have to pay a heavier sales tax for their affiliate program. The lawmakers argue that, as the Internet is intended to target everyone in the world, therefore, the sales made by the affiliates in Colorado, calls for the sales tax to be paid by Amazon Inc. However, Amazon has in fact refused to bow down to this new amendment and has withdrawn its affiliate program, stating that, it will continues to sell its products to the users in Colorado, but will engage other means of advertising, including the Amazon affiliates in other states.

According to an e-mail sent to the users by Amazon Inc,

“There is a right way for Colorado to pursue its revenue goals, but this new law is a wrong way. As we repeatedly communicated to Colorado legislators, including those who sponsored and supported the new law, we are not opposed to collecting sales tax within a constitutionally-permissible system applied even-handedly. The US Supreme Court has defined what would be constitutional, and if Colorado would repeal the current law or follow the constitutional approach to collection, we would welcome the opportunity to reinstate Colorado-based Associates.”

This isn’t the first time that, Amazon has come across the hurdle of increased sales tax. In the year 2008, New York also passed a similar law, which was countered by Amazon with a lawsuit. On the same lines, Rhode Island and North Carolina had also issued the same law, that made Amazon withdraw its affiliates program from these two states as well.

Oscar red carpet 2010

The annually mostly anticipated event of the year is the Oscar. It was like yesterday, but it’s back.
The pre-oscar show is the red carpet event when all the celebrities making their appearance with their style, their dress, their hairstyle, etc. It’s more like a fashion show where the models are celebrities, isn’t it great to watch..

Watching the fans’ favorites posing for photos are such an exciting thing to watch. The current talk of the event is Sandra Bullock with her best dress… but another talk of the oscar is the worse performance award… also the worst movie award…

For me, whether it is worse or bad, it just pull more attention, and even more glamorous if you ask me. People tend to find out how worse if they miss the show, anyway…OSCAR going to be exciting… and it’s coming right now..
