Earthquake chicago

US Geological Survey reported an earthquake measuring at 4.3 magnitude had hit northern Illinois in the morning of Wednesday.

No report on any damage or losses in this quake. However, the area residents was feeling the tremor and mild shake causing hanging lights waving.

The residents were reminded of 2008 incident where the earthquake struck the southeast of Illinois. Although it’s small, it set off alarms, woke up people in their sleep , knock books off the shelves but no serious injuries reported. So far, no immediate reports of aftershocks.

Sarah Evans, 29, described the situation,

“I popped out of bed,” she said. “I felt extreme shaking. I shook my husband, and said, ‘Oh my God, I think it was an earthquake.’” She said the dogs didn’t bark but it seemed as if everything in her 100-year-old single-family home was shaking, as if a train was roaring by.

According to reports, southern region of Wisconsin was also feeling the trembling.

“This is not a very seismically active area,” Ms. Vaughan said. “We don’t know what fault system this is, but there are faults everywhere throughout the world that can slip at any given time.”

Earthquakes have been everywhere around the world in these few years, and it seems like it is not ceasing.
